Cellulite is something that seems to affect most women regardless of their lifestyle and fitness levels. Many women believe that there is nothing that can be done to remove and get rid of cellulite but they are very much mistaken.

In fact 70% of all cellulite is caused by a person’s lifestyle and only 30% is down to a woman’s genetics. That really is good news and it means that it is possible to dramatically reduce the amount of and even completely get rid of cellulite from your legs. All you need is a little know how and some pretty simple exercises to get rid of cellulite. You will be amazed at how quickly you can get rid of cellulite it is just a simple case of knowing how and a little bit of consistency.

Here we are looking at a few simple exercises to get rid of and reduce the amount of cellulite.

Lunges.

When it comes to exercises that get rid of cellulite lunges really should be compulsory. Unfortunately many women try to avoid lunges because they are afraid that their legs and knees will hurt. If you are one of these women then it is important for you to know that in most cases lunges will only hurt if you happen to be performing them incorrectly.

To perform lunges correctly take a dumbbell in each hand that is not too heavy and hold it with the palms of your hands facing your sides. Stand with your feet slightly apart, about the width of your shoulders. Take your right foot and step forward. Lower your left leg as you do this so that it ends up only an inch or two from the floor. Try to hold this position for 2-3 seconds and then return yourself to the starting position making sure that your feet are the same distance apart. Don’t ever try to do all of these movements simultaneously as that is how you start to suffer from pain while performing lunges.

Kickbacks.

Get yourself down on all fours like a horse and find your centre of gravity so that you will not lose balance though this exercise. Once you are ready to begin raise your left foot behind you and into the air as if you are pushing it towards the sky. Hold it at the top for two seconds then slowly bring your foot back down so you are in the starting position. Now repeat this motion with the other foot. In total aim to perform 16 reps with each leg.

Once you begin to get the hang of this exercise you can start adding weights to your ankles. There are actually special weights that you can buy which are designed for the job. Don’t try to lift weights that are ridiculously heavy and make sure you invest in the proper weights because if you try to improvise with something else as a weight substitute you risk injury.

Squats.

When it comes to leg exercises and exercises to get rid of cellulite most people will be familiar with what is known as squats.

To perform squats stand with your feet slightly apart and take some dumbbells in your hands making sure that the palms of your hands are facing inwards towards the sides of your body. Start to slowly bend your knees so that your body begins to lower and continue to bend your knees until the bend in your knee reaches about a 100-120 degree angle. Once you have reached that position hold it for a couple of seconds and then begin to straighten your knees up so that you return to your starting position. Maintain a nice form throughout the motion and take it slow so you really feel the burn. If you perform these too fast you will find them too easy for them to have any effect and you also risk injury especially if you are not properly warmed up.

Walking.

When it comes to exercises that get rid of cellulite most people will probably not include walking as part of their exercises and workout. What they do not realise is that a simple walk is hugely effective at removing stubborn fat deposits from your legs. The great thing about walking is that it does not require you to find extra time in your day to go for an hour long walk. You could simply take the stairs rather than the lift or walk to the local shop instead of taking the car. You could park a little further from work and walk some of the way. There are plenty of ways to include walking in your daily routine and if you wish you could even use a nice summer walk as an excuse to spend extra time with your family.

Intense Cardio.

If you are looking for something a little more intense in the way of exercise to get rid of cellulite then you may want to think about including some intense cardio in your workout routine.

Intense cardio such as circuit training or interval training on the treadmill or exercise bike is the ultimate way to get rid of your unwanted cellulite but make sure that you have a decent amount of base fitness before you embark on anything like this as it is quite strenuous. If you have not exercised in a while it may also be advisable to seek the advice of a doctor just to make sure you are in tip top shape and are not going to doing yourself any damage.
